Gardner's Syndrome

  • Rare
  • Autosomal dominant
  • Deletion in long arm of chromosome 5
  • Multiple tubular adenomatous polyps throughout colon and rectum (often in proximal small bowel as well)
  • First develop in adolescence
  • Malignant change inevitable
  • Whole of colorectal mucosa should be removed
    • Standard : panproctocolectomy with ileostomy
    • Preferred by patients : creation of ileal pouch
