  • distal third of transverse colon

  • left colic flexure

  • descending colon

  • sigmoid colon

  • upper half of anal canal

• arises from aorta about 1 1/2 inches above bifurcation

• runs downward and to left

• crosses common iliac artery

  • becomes Superior Rectal Artery after
