Vitreous Haemorrhage


  • Common cause of visual loss in diabetics with new vessel formation
  • May also occur in:
    • bleeding disorders,
    • retinal detachment,
    • vein occlusions
  • If enough to obscure vision then red reflex will be lost
  • Presence of floaters

Treatment

  • Should resolve spontaneously but if unresolved at 3 months vitrectomy may be done to remove blood
