Congenital Rubella Syndrome
- 0-8 weeks gestation 90-100% have multiple defects
- 4-12 weeks
- eye - cataracts
- ear - deafness
- cardiac -5th to 12th week
- CNS
- 8-12 weeks 80-90% have multiple defects
- 12-18 week risk is declining defects include
- deafness
- mental retardation
- After 18 week less than 1% risk of deafness occurring
- Also
- foetal growth restriction
- thrombocytopenia
- hepatosplenomegaly
- vasculitis
- renal artery stenosis
Rubelliform Rash in Pregnancy (or contact)
- take blood for SRH test within 15 days
- repeat SRH at 21 days
- if seroconverts offer termination
