  • Condition of the elderly
  • transient ischaemia of large bowel, splenic flexure most vulnerable

Presentation

  • Bout of cramp-like abdominal pain lasting a few hours
  • Followed by attack of rectal bleeding
    • dark red
    • no faeces
    • 1-3x over 12 hours
  • Ceases spontaneously
