- passes upward to level of 2nd lumbar vertebra, duodenojejunal flexure (left of midline,
1cm below transpyloric plane)

- superior pancreaticoduodenal artery from gastroduodenal artery fropm coeliac artery
- inferior pancreaticoduodenal artery from sperior mesenteric arterty
- lymphatics drain to nodes at coeliac artery and porta hepatis
