Reye Syndrome

Clinical Features
- vomiting
- depressed consciousness
- hepatomegaly
- hyperammonaemia (>100mmol/l
- raised transaminases (>100IU/l)
- prolonged prothrombin (>4 secs increased)
- hypoglycaemia
Treatment
- of liver failure
- raised intracranial pressure
- ventilation to ↓ PCO2 to 3.5-4.0 kPa
- mannitol
