Proteinuria

• rule out urinary tract infection
• can get false positive in menstruating women
• get laboratory estimation of 24 hour urinary protein

Orthostatic proteinuria

• Not pathological
• absent in early morning specimen (i.e. voided as going to bed, have not got up yet)
• present after hours or so ambulation
