Pelviureteric Junction Obstruction
- may appear at any age from birth until end of 4th decade
- may be physical narowing
- may be defect of sphincter mechanism
- causes pressure in collecting system and deterioration in renal function
- predisposition to infection
Clinical Features
- may be asymptomatic
- aching pain in renal area
- severe pain in abdomen or loins
Investigations
- IVU
- prolonged nephrogram
- negative pyelogram
- delayed drainage
- spontaneous extravasation of contrast
