Right Subclavian Artery
- Arises from brachiocephalic artery
- behind right sternoclavicular joint
- passes upward and laterally behind scalenus anterior
- becomes continuous with axillary artery at outer border of first rib

Left Subclavian Artery
- arises from arch of aorta
- behind left common carotid artery
- runs upward along left side of trachea and oesophagus
- ascends to root of neck
- arches laterally behind scalenus anterior
- becomes continuous with axillary artery

- Divided into 3 part
- from origin to medial border scalenus anterior
- behind scalenus anterior
- lateral border of scalenus anterior to outer border 1st rib
