Common Interosseous Artery
Superficial Palmar Arch

  • larger of terminal branches of brachial artery

  • begins at cubital fossa at level of neck of radius

  • descends through anterior compartment of forearm

  • lies deep to most of flexor muscles

  • becomes superficial and lies between tendons of

    • flexor carpi ulnaris

    • flexor digitorum superficialis

  • enters palm in front of flexor retinaculum

    • in company of ulnar nerve

    • just lateral to pisiform bone

    • covered only skin and fascia

  • ends by forming superficial palmar arch

Branches

  • muscular branches

  • recurrent branches

    • take part in arterial anastomosis around elbow

  • branches for arterial anastomosis around wrist

  • Common Interosseous Artery
