- well circumscribed
- lobulated
- 10-40mm
- surrounding breast tissue compressed
- not tethered
- younger
- soft
- slightly gelatinous cut surface
- older
- firmer
- more fibrous
- sometimes calcified
Microscopic
- duct like structures
- thinned ductular structure associated with overgrown connective tissue
matrix
Variants
- juvenile
- large 50-100mm
- commoner in Africans and West Indians
Treatment
- Treated by excisional biopsy if any doubt about diagnosis
- Young women (teens) may be reasonable to observe
