- usually present under 45 years
- female 3:1 male
- more common in patients exposed to radiation
- non-encapsulated, infiltrative mass
Histology
- epithelial papillary projections
- cell nuclei large, clear areas - "orphan Annie"
- calcified spherules may be present

Examination
- lump may be situated anterolaterally (lateral aberrant thyroid)
- actually involved lymph node
Prognosis
- excellent, grows slowly
- 90% survival at 10 years
