- perforation
- occupied by desquamated keratin (pearly)
Complications
- expansion → destruction
- ossicles
- facial nerve
- inner ear
- infection
- venous sinus thrombosis
- extra-dural abscess
- subdural abscess
- meningitis
- brain abscess
Treatment
- surgical removal - radical mastoidectomy
