History 

  • difficult
  • establish handedness

Examination

  • Observe
    • evidence of hemiparesis
  • Ask
    • "Please would you tell me your name and where you are?"
    • Sensory dysphasia
      • "Please touch your nose"
      • "Stick out your tongue"
      • "Touch your right ear with your left hand"
      • speech often fluent but low content
    • Motor dysphasia

      • "Would you tell me what this is"

If no problem go on to test for Dementia
