Course
- Faecal-oral spread
- Incubation 14 or more days
- Sub-acute onset
- Prolonged course – may last weeks
Diagnosis
- Stool microscopy after formol-ether concentration
- String test / duodenal aspirate for trophozoites
- Sample needs to be warm as tropohozoites encyst on cooling
