Motor supply to
- supraspinatus
- infraspinatus
Common pathology
- damaged by sudden tightening of seatbelt
- may be accompanied by upper trunk and clavicular injuries
- paralysis of both muscles destabilises rotator cuff
- loss of supraspinatus causes loss of 0-15º of abduction
- loss of infraspinatus leads to reduced lateral rotation
- some preserved via teres minor (axillary nerve)
