• 90% effective (95% against rubella)

• Measles – Enders Edmonston
• Rubella – RA 27/3
• Mumps – Jeryl Lynn

Regimen

• Since 1996
• 1 dose after 1^st birthday
• 1 dose before entry to school
• Given irrespective of history
• Any age
• High risk categories for complications
• Cystic fibrosis
• Congenital heart/kidney disease
• Failure to thrive
• Downs syndrome
• Children <1 year
• Residential / day care
• Playgroups and nursery schools

Adverse reactions

• After 1^st dose
  • malaise, fever, rash (1 week)
  • Febrile convulsions (6^th – 11^th day)
  • Thrombocytopenia
  • Arthralgia
  • Arthritis
  • Encephalitis
• After 2^nd dose
  • Fever, rash
  • Thrombocytopenia
