- cyanosis
- reduced air entry
- tracheal shift AWAY from haemothorax
- distended neck veins
- evidence of shock
Investigations
Treatment
- Oxygen
- insert two wide-bore cannulae
- blood for cross-matching
- commence IV fluids
- axillary chest drain
- referral to cardiothoracic surgeon
- if >1l initially or >200ml/hr
