  • provides main arterial supply to arm
  • terminates opposite neck of radius by dividing into
    • radial artery
    • ulnar artery

  • anteriorly
    • overlapped from lateral side by 
      • coracobrachialis
      • biceps
    • medial cutaneous nerve (at upper part)
    • median nerve (crosses middle part)
    • bicipital aponeurosis (crosses lower part)
  • Posteriorly
    • triceps
    • coracobrachialis insertion
    • brachialis
  • Medially
    • ulnar nerve (in upper arm)
    • basilic vein
    • median nerve
  • Laterally
    • Upper part
      • median nerve
      • coracobrachialis
      • biceps
    • lower part
      • tendon of biceps

Branches

  • muscular branches to anterior compartment of forearm
  • nutrient artery to humerus
  • profunda artery
    • arises near beginning of brachial artery
    • follows radial nerve into spiral groove of humerus
  • superior ulnar collateral artery
    • arises near middle of upper arm
    • follows ulnar nerve
  • inferior ulnar collateral
    • arises near termination of artery
    • takes part in anastomosis around elbow
