  • onset often in childhood
  • tonic-clonic / grand mal seizures
  • Attack
    • aura
      • vague dizziness or irritability
    • epileptic cry
    • loss of consciousness and fall to floor
    • tonic phase - few seconds of muscle spasm
    • clonic phase - repetitive jerks
    • unconscious for 30 mins or so
    • confusion / drowsiness for several hours
  • usually controllable with one drug
