  • released in response to products of triglyceride digestion, peptides and certain amino acids
    in duodenum and upper jejunum
  • stimulates secretion of bile acids and pigments by liver
  • stimulates secretion of protein component of pancreatic juice
  • causes emptying of gall bladder
  • also decreases rate of gastric emptying and increases tone of pyloric sphincter
  • potentiates the action of secretin on pancreatic ducts.
