Lingual Artery

• arises from anterior surface of external carotid
  • opposite tip of cornu of hyoid bone
• loops upward
• passes deep to posterior border of hyoglossus
• enters submandibular region
• crossed by
  • hypoglossal nerve (superficially, at loop)
• supplies tongue
