Deep Venous Thrombosis

• Thrombosis usually in deep veins of calf.

• Risk that thrombus will break off and impact in lung → pulmonary embolism

Symptoms / Signs

• Leg

  • pain

  • swelling

  • redness

Management

• IV heparin

• USS

  • if definite then anticoagulate with heparin / warfarin

  • if equivocal then venogram

• Rule out malignancy
