- triad begins in first few months of life
- shock-like flexion of arms, head and neck with drawing up of knees
(salaam attack)
- progressive mental handicap
- characteristic EEG abnormality
- can be idiopathic
Causes
- perinatal asphyxia
- encephalitis
- metabolic disturbance
- cerebral malformations
